About Us
The Campbell River Hospice Society (CRHS) has been providing compassionate care to those affected by grief, those facing end-of-life and caregivers for the past 35 years. We continue providing our vital services because of the generous support of many caring and supportive individuals living in Campbell River and surrounding areas.
What is Hospice Care
Hospice Care is aimed to relieve suffering and help to improve the quality of life for those who are grieving or living with a terminal illness. We encircle the patient and their family with compassionate emotional support. This helps them experience a meaningful end-of-life with joy and dignity. For those affected by a loss, we provide specialized services and support to help them through their journey of grief.
Children's Grief Support
Since the pandemic, we have experienced a dramatic increase in the need for children's grief support. Our Art & Play Therapy Counselling and Children's Grief Packages are designed to support children and their families through their grief journey.
How the Funds Are Used
All funds raised from the Win BIG for Hospice Care will go directly to continuing our programs and services for those in our community and the surrounding areas. Our requests for Grief Support have significantly increased by 70% over the past two years, monies raised will also support the ever-growing need for this specialized care.
Who We Serve
Many families are suffering exponentially after a loss during pandemic restrictions over the last two years resulting in complicated grief cases. 63% of the clients we support are affected by the loss of a loved one due to sudden death, suicide, or overdose/poisoning. We provide our programs and services to families, children aged 4 years and up, and to any individuals who have suffered a loss or are at end-of-life.
